What can you accomplish in 168 hours?

How often should I come to class? The best answer is that you should come as often as you can.  Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts will mean different things at different times during your life.  You may have times where you are training almost daily and you will have points where your training maybe less.  Regardless of what path you’re on right now it’s important that you recognize that martial arts is a lifestyle.  Training may happen on the mats but the real practice is in our daily lives.  How we deal with interactions, relationships, challenges, obstacles and life in general.  That’s Jiu-Jitsu off the mats. That’s how Martial Arts can serve your daily life.  From creating healthy eating and thinking habits to getting in amazing shape… Martial Arts is here to serve you.

I’m a big believer that the more you put into something the more you’ll get out of it.  Your results are always in direct proportion to the effort and commitment you put into anything.  So if you can attend 3 or 4 times or more per week and that is working right now… then hats off to you and go for it!  Regardless of whether it’s twice per week or 7 times per week, it has to be sustainable over the long haul.  I define sustainable in this circumstance as; whatever you do today has to outlast the present moment.  In other words, if you train hard today but can’t walk tomorrow, then that’s clearly not sustainable.  But if you are otherwise healthy and more works, then embrace it now.  If your life is making consistent training difficult then perhaps it’s time to reevaluate.  Look at the things in your life that are truly serving you and those around you and that’s always the best place to put your focus. If Martial Arts makes you feel good and serves your soul then however it’s in your life is a good thing.  If right now it’s less but at some point it will be more… that’s okay!  Make it work and be resourceful.  We all start every week with 168 hours.  It’s what we do with those hours that fills our lives.
